Frequently Asked Questions

  • This is a state initiative under the America250 in Idaho Ambassadors program. The concurrent resolution for a “year of volunteerism” and “Idaho Service Challenge” was passed unanimously through both the House and Senate (HCR 22) on January 22nd, 2026.

This challenge invites ALL Idahoans to do what Idahoans do best: invite neighbors to serve neighbors. As we honor America’s 250th anniversary, we are creating a stronger community for our future generations through unity and kindness.

  • Everything from a small gesture to a massive community project makes a difference! For the purposes of this challenge, we are tracking intentional acts of kindness that result in a tangible benefit for someone else. The goal is neighbors serving neighbors and building a stronger future — the Idaho way!

    Think of it this way:

    • Log it: If you spent time tutoring, volunteering at a shelter, or organizing a neighborhood cleanup, we count it!

    • Live it: Continue the "little things" every day—opening doors, texting a friend, or sharing a smile and compliment. These acts are the heartbeat of our community!

  • No. You can use JustServe to find local community and remote opportunities, and to get ideas, but independent acts of kindness count too.

  • Absolutely. Service ideas are available for all ages, including families, classrooms, and youth groups.

  • Yes. Each person participating can log their individual act of service.

  • No limit. Serve once or serve often.

*Tip: If you served nine days with an organization, you can enter “9” in the form section that asks: “If reporting for a group, how many people served?”. This will automatically add the nine acts of service. Then you don’t have to fill out the form nine times.

  • Yes—food, clothing, supplies, and other helpful donations all qualify.
